BNG Good Practice Guidance

This good practice guidance is intended to support the key specialisms responsible for designing, constructing, and managing onsite mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). The guidance brings together relevant existing information and provides additional commentary on what BNG good practice looks like.

The interactive nature of the tool is to ease navigation, bring the process to life through each stage, capture the viewpoints of those involved in a digestible, relatable way, and reflect the collaborative nature of the approach. A working group comprised of a cross-section of skills to represent a project team required to deliver BNG has developed the guidance.

The guidance is based on the Future Homes Hub process flow diagram and adds characters to create an additional layer of what good practice looks like for each stage.

This is intended to be used by anyone who needs to support the delivery of on-site BNG as part of their role or who is creating internal good practices procedures for themselves and/or their company. 

The guidance will not favour large or small sites to ensure it applies to all; however, it only focuses on the Statutory Metric.
