The Role


The Future Homes Hub helps the home building community come together to address the challenges of creating zero-carbon, nature rich and sustainable homes and places. We are at the heart of rapid and important change in the sector and want to hear from exceptional individuals to join the team.


We're looking for a Head of Place and Nature to help the new homes sector deliver developments that are consistently low carbon, nature-rich, resilient, and healthy. This high-profile role will provide leadership for the sector, working with senior leaders, government, developers, consultants, planners, and other stakeholders. The role will involve convening expert stakeholders to identify the support required to help the sector implement development scale challenges such as sustainable placemaking, biodiversity net gain, integrated water management, Sustainable Urban Drainage, design codes and arrangements for long-term stewardship and adoption.


Responsibilities


· Lead the workstreams on biodiversity and nature, placemaking, and water resource management

· Create and lead the effective running of expert working groups

· Represent the Hub with industry, government, agencies, universities and NGOs

· Inform the sector’s climate and environmental roadmap

· Oversee the preparation, writing, presentation and dissemination of relevant, accurate, practical papers, guidance and tools for a national audience

· Work with communications colleagues across the Hub and sector on innovative multi-media ways to share solutions with users

· Manage a diverse portfolio of work, supporting the activity of the various workstreams of the Hub

· Keep abreast of relevant zero-carbon, nature and sustainability issues, policy, and industry concerns.


The candidate


Our role is to bring the right people together at the right time to deliver the practical change for the new homes sector. As such, we are looking for open minded, collegiate individuals who can work with people with varying viewpoints to identify the most effective solutions. You will need a good understanding of the planning system and the commercial and practical constraints and opportunities associated with creating sustainable places.


With demonstrable experience of planning and placemaking for new homes, you will

  • Be passionate for delivering a zero-carbon and sustainable future
  • Be able to lead others in a common endeavour across multiple organisations
  • Be comfortable to work and communicate with senior leaders and policy makers
  • Have an enquiring mind
  • Show attention to detail, with a collaborative attitude and a commercial mindset.


We will consider secondments from organisations that are members of the Future Homes Hub.


Rewards

· Salary range: £65,000 – £80,000, with potential for a higher offer for exceptional experience.

· Pension (5% employer contribution)

· 26 days holiday
